Parish School of Religion
"It's smart to be afraid of the dark,
Because unless you can see where you're going,
It's easy."

Goals of Religious Education
  1. Understand our Catholic religion.
  2. Learn about the Bible, and model examples of Jesus through everyday living.
  3. Encourage a Christian value system from which moral decisions are made.
  4. Encourage family involvement and parental support in Christian education.
  5. Build community and excitement through service, learning, and participation in activities.
The 3 & 4 year olds, and kindergarten children are called forward during the 10:30 Mass for a special blessing and then their teachers take them downstairs for their classes.

Grades one through five meet Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15.

Policies of PSR
  1. It is understood that parents are the primary teachers of their children and no child's faith will be greater than the significant adults in that child's life. The catechist can only share her/his faith. It is the parents who lead their children to God by praying with them and taking them to Mass and the Sacraments.
  2. Parents are urged to attend the Masses and other sacraments and program in which their children are involved.
  3. All of the catechist have volunteered to share their faith with the group. They do not have time to discipline those in their class. It is expected that each student will show respect for himself/herself, others, teachers, and church property. If a child disturbs the class the catechist will send that child to the DRE office in the company of another child or adult aide. After speaking with the child, the parent will be called if the child does not indicate that he or she will be better. If the parent has to be called the second time, the parent will be asked to accompany the child to class until the parent and the child assure me that the incident will not occur again.
  4. Children should be dropped off no more than 10 minutes before classes begin. Children should be accompanied by their parents/guardians into the building and an adult must come inside to pick up their child at the end of PSR each Sunday.
  5. Parents are always welcome to attend PSR classes.
  6. There will be liturgical events scheduled throughout the school year. We encourage participation in as many of them as possible.
